Gavin aka Tramps makes his debut with Bat Flips and Nerds in the first of two posts. Today, it’s a look ahead to this weeks games and how to watch them in the UK.
It is not easy being an MLB fan in the UK, but this week there are lots of televised games, many at reasonable times for those of us who are not night owls.
On Saturday 8 September (9:00 pm UK time), we get a preview of a potential AL championship matchup when BT Sport televises the clash between this year’s best team against the reigning World Series champions. At 13-3, Astros starter Charlie Morton has the best winning percentage in the league. He will be activated from the DL to take the mound against Eduardo Rodriguez and the Red Sox. This is the must-watch game of the weekend.
You can enjoy a double-bill on Sunday evening, starting with the 6:00 pm free game on MLB.TV which pits the Indians against the Blue Jays. After that, settle down for BT Sport showing NL East-leading Braves on the road against the Diamondbacks. Robbie Ray gets the start for the home team. After breaking out last season, 2018 has been a disappointment for the 26-year-old who has been limited to just 97 innings.
There are three evening games on Wednesday, two of which are at 6:00 pm. You can choose between Astros vs. Tigers as the free game on MLB.TV or Pirates vs. Cardinals on BT Sport ESPN. At 8:45 pm, Facebook Watch is broadcasting Braves vs. Giants.
The week’s televised game with the most riding on it is the NL West clash between the Rockies and the Diamondbacks. Both teams are fighting with the Dodgers in the tightest of divisional battles. The game is on BT Sport ESPN but also free via Facebook Watch.
The Cubs are always good value to watch, so tune in to BT Sport ESPN at 7:10 pm on Friday to catch Chicago hosting the Reds.
If you need more baseball action, UK subscribers to MLB.TV can see every single MLB game with no blackouts.
