Five Bold Predictions from the Bat Flips & Nerds team (part 3)

Here is the final instalment of Five Bold Predictions from the Bat Flips & Nerds family. Presumably, you have already seen Gav’s 30 BOLDish Predictions (one for each MLB team) and Part 1 and Part 2. So, we’ll cut to the chase and give you Part 3 of Bat Flips & Nerds bold predictions.

Kicking us off today is St Louis Cardinals correspondent Jennifer Annely. As if to reinforce the “Best Fans in Baseball” reputation, just look at the genius of her prediction number 5

Jennifer Annely

  1. The Atlanta Braves won’t win the NL East
  2. The NL Central will be the worst division in baseball
  3. The National League MVP won’t be a Dodger
  4. The Philly Phanatic causes an international diplomatic incident at the London Series games
  5. Miles Mikolas creates a nationwide sage shortage trying to cleanse the outfield of bad vibes at Busch stadium

Braves fan, Nathan Swanney, took time out of his busy schedule of running podcasts, Instagram accounts, YouTube channels, and a US sportswear store to provide these five predictions. Check out Nathan’s Highway Sports empire.

  2. New York Yankees miss the playoffs
  3. Milwaukee Brewers win the NLCS
  4. Los Angeles Dodgers won’t win a playoff series
  5. Pittsburgh Pirates finish the season with more wins than the Arizona Diamondbacks

Talking of people with busy schedules, Jason Derr (aka Bubba) is just about the busiest man in baseball with his Ballcaps and Bagpipes podcast, his Tea and Topps podcast, his Seattle Mariners supporters hub, the Dugout Classics vintage apparel store, and maybe a forthcoming Harry Ford appreciation site.

Jason Derr

  1. George Kirby will win the AL Cy Young award
  2. Jarred Kelenic will realise his full potential with the Atlanta Braves
  3. The Tampa Bay Rays get approval for a new stadium
  4. The Oakland A’s change their name midseason to the Gamblers ahead of moving to Las Vegas
  5. The San Diego Padres will be sold to Mexican drug lords. Players are asked not to sniff the foul lines

Next up is Mark Phillips, a regular contributor on the St. Louis Cardinals UK podcast, YouTube, and Spaces. He wrote an excellent season review for Bat Flips & Nerds last season on what must have been the Cardinals’ most shocking capitulation in decades.

Mark Phillips

  2. Masyn Winn will win a gold glove

Imagine having the inspiration to set up a podcast covering baseball in the UK, and then having the ability to create it and pump out some of the best (and always unique) content on this side of the Atlantic. You won’t be surprised to see that Matt has a certain GB-baseball-bent to his predictions.

Matthew Mutton

  1. A team that has never won the World Series gets their first one this season
  2. Manchester Baseball Club beats Liverpool Trojans this season
  3. There will be a new BBF NBL winner this year
  4. GB baseball under-23s win quite a few games at the World Cup
  5. British Baseball goes from strength to strength, and the number of players grows

With her first of what we hope will be many contributions, Gemma is a Mets fan and vocal advocate for women’s sports. She is also a Liverpool FC supporter, but don’t let that stop you from following her on Twitter X, where her content reminds you that the platform isn’t an entire cesspool.

Gemma Newman

  1. Jackson Chourio wins NL Rookie of the Year
  2. The Colorado Rockies make the playoffs
  3. There will be eight or more triple plays this season
  4. Francisco Alvarez will win an NL Silver Slugger Award

Some people are sickeningly popular, sickeningly good-looking, sickeningly hard-working, and sickeningly knowledgeable. Ian Blease is not only all of those, but he is also the dynamo behind the Liverpool Trojans and the “Dodgers in the UK” podcast. However, he isn’t perfect – he suffers from debilitating shyness.

Ian Blease

2. All three NL wildcard slots go to the NL West
3. Chris Sale finishes in the Top 5 in NL Cy Young voting
